Local artist and jewellery-maker Gilly Page is planning not one but two creative workshops in the forthcoming half-term holiday. Her previous events have been a lot of fun and participants have conjured up some stunning projects during the industrious mornings.
The first event, on Wednesday 25th October from 10am until 12 noon, is a little different from usual because it’s open to any age, adults included, and is about Creative Scrapbooking. Gilly says: “Participants have the chance to create a story or theme which is very personal to them. As with my children’s workshops I would first and foremost encourage creative use of materials, photographs, keepsakes and where appropriate the written word to make each individual scrapbook.” Gilly will bring a selection of decorative materials, pens, glue, double sided tape, paper and card but individuals are also encouraged to bring with them any personal items they’d like to include. So if you’d like to discover how to produce a unique scrapbook to treasure, why not sign up?
On Friday 27th October, also from 10am until 12 noon, Gilly’s workshop for primary-age children will focus on Halloween preparations. She says: “Get ready to create a spooky pumpkin family from recycled and found objects”, with all materials provided. All you need to bring is plenty of imagination. This is bound to be popular and booking is essential.
Each workshop costs £5 per person and early booking is recommended. Please visit the library in Vicarage Drive or phone 01384 872348.
