Kinver Community Library knows a thing or two about the importance of volunteering!  Chairman Paul Wooddisse says:  “We’re pleased to now be in a position to share some of our space with the Kinver Volunteer Bureau, which has recently sought a new venue from which to operate.”  From Tuesday 16th January, therefore, Kinver Volunteer Bureau can be contacted at Kinver Library in person or by phone on its dedicated line 01384 872344, 10am-12noon Tuesday-Friday.

Kinver Volunteer Bureau operates with a group of around 40 very willing volunteers who give their time to help and support the people of Kinver.  Key organiser Jackie Light explains: “Our main function is to provide transport to appointments at the hospital, doctors, dentists, opticians or similar for people without transport.  The Bureau is self-financing so we request a voluntary donation from passengers to reimburse drivers for petrol costs.”

New drivers are always welcome and wheelchairs can be borrowed on short-term loan. The Bureau also runs a lunch club on the third Wednesday of each month, primarily for people living alone, although at present there is a waiting list for this.

Everyone concerned is looking forward to a happy working relationship as in their own ways they continue to serve the people of Kinver.
