This is a brilliant way for children aged four to eleven to continue reading during the long summer holidays. The Summer Reading Challenge is a national initiative from The Reading Agency, working in collaboration with libraries, to encourage children to read books of their choice. It’s free to join too.
Call into the library from 6 July, sign-up and select some books. This year the theme “Marvellous Makers” is all about crafts and creativity, but the books chosen can be on any topic. As children read and return their books, they win rewards. It’s great fun and this year’s Challenge will no doubt prove to be as popular as ever.
